Planning permission for a secure children’s mental health unit on the site of a former private nursing home was granted on appeal in 2001. Whilst the proposed building is located on the site of the existing building and is less conspicuous in height, its location within the greenbelt and positioned on a ridge line has required sensitive landscape design to minimize its impact.
Randall Thorp was commissioned by Partnerships In Care in 2003 to satisfy planning conditions related to tree removal and protection and landscape details. Our work has included:
- Tree survey of surrounding woodlands and trees protected by TPO’s;
- Production of tree protection drawings for demolition and construction phases;
- Hard and soft landscape plans for both planning and construction;
- Negotiation with the Local Planning Authority for tree felling and landscape issues;
- Site inspection and monitoring landscape construction works.
The majority of the landscape works were substantially complete in 2008, although management of the woodland continues. |
