Caxton Bypass and the A428 dual carriageway have been constructed as part of the Cambourne development.
Randall Thorp worked solely with WSP consulting engineers, RPS Transport Planning Consultants and ESL Ecologists, to ensure that there highways were both attractive to users and fitted into the existing landscape pattern. This was achieved by:
- Advising the engineers on the vertical and horizontal road alignments
- Ensuring the road was visually integrated through careful design and placement of landform.
- Planting schemes that screened the roads form sensitive external views and blended with the structure of the surrounding landscape.
Both highways are now over 5 years old and as the associated planting establishes, are blending into their surroundings.
