EXPERIENCE
Prior to establishing the practice in 1986, Edward’s career in local government gave him in depth knowledge of the workings of Local Authorities and the leadership of design teams. During this period he was responsible, initially for half, latterly the whole, of Greater Manchester County Council’s landscape design and implementation. This has enabled Edward to offer our clients invaluable experience in a range of large scale landscape projects including river valleys, country parks, land reclamation, tip restoration, environmental improvement grant aid programme, and highway schemes.
Edward has used his skills, either as a designer or project manager, in a wide range of projects, including: Salford Quays waterfronts for Shepherd Epstein Hunter; town centre improvement schemes for Oldham MBC; Highways Agency term commissions dealing with the landscape of trunk roads and motorways; business parks in Manchester, Snowdonia, and Liverpool for a variety of private developers; the comprehensive redevelopment of the former Brewery site in Warrington for Greenalls plc; and new training facilities for Manchester United Football Club.
Edward was lead consultant for the scoping study, successful grant application, works contracts, and maintenance for the Estuary Coastal Reserve project on behalf of the Speke Garston Steering Group in Liverpool. He has been responsible for many successful aspects of the Cambourne New Settlement project, including, landscape budgeting, construction and management, preparation of the highway design guide and management of existing woodlands.
Most recently Edward has been working on Heritage Lottery Fund bids for the garden of Elizabeth Gaskell's house in Manchester and for the restoration of the historic park at Lytham Hall.
