Randall Thorp was part of the multidisciplinary team employed by Taylor Wimpey to produce a 450 home masterplan for a site on the urban/rural fringe, north of Preston.
Our responsibilities included:
Outline planning approval was granted in by Planning Committee in January 2012 without the need for Appeal.
The Masterplan creates a new place for sustainable family living which integrates with and compliments the adjacent areas. It contains a range of family homes including affordable housing, space for up to three local shops and play and informal sport facilities, all within a well-planned green infrastructure to encourage pedestrian and cycle movement.
The design was landscape led and took its cue from the existing features in and around the site: vegetation, landform, ecology, drainage and built form. These existing features presented a number of opportunities to create a unique scheme that is responsive to the site, preserves and enhances the best of what is there and knits into the adjacent areas, providing a strong sense of place and local character whilst creating a development that meets our client’s commercial aims.
