Our fundamental aim is to deliver sustainable, high quality landscapes for our clients and the benefit of people and the environment
Our approach to landscape architecture and design is rooted in the idea of creating spaces with a real sense of place, as well as delivering schemes that offer commodity, firmness and delight. With our philosophy and experience we offer our clients imaginative yet realistic landscape design solutions that meet the needs of their project’s challenges and opportunities.
As Landscape Architects for Cambourne new settlement we have been responsible for the design, delivery and management of all the Green Infrastructure, public open space, play, sport and leisure facilities. With over 12 years involvement in this project we have had the opportunity to monitor and observe how schemes are used and what their maintenance costs. From this unique perspective we have been able to continually develop and refine our approach to landscape design and master planning and offer this experience to all our clients. Our involvement with the delivery of Cambourne new settlement has enabled us to see at first hand how design theory translates into the creation of living places.
Randall Thorp was established in 1986 by Edward Thorp and Pauline Randall. Both Edward and Pauline had previously worked as landscape architects for Greater Manchester Council with Edward being the Council’s senior landscape architect in charge of the entire landscape section.
Dick Longdin joined the practice in 1989 and became the third partner in 1996. Our team has now expanded to include other chartered landscape architects, landscape assistants, graduates, technicians and administrators.
Our design philosophy is centred on a belief that truly sustainable landscapes maximise the benefits to our clients, the community and the wider environment.
