Planning permission for a wind farm at Roos in East Yorkshire was originally refused on the grounds of its potential landscape and visual effects. Particular issues raised by the Local Planning Authority included the effect on the setting of a nearby conservation area and a Grade II* listed building.
Following a decision to drop two of the original eleven turbines, Randall Thorp was commissioned by RES UK and Ireland Ltd to review and update the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment for incorporation into a new Environmental Statement. Our work included an update of the policy context and re-assessment of the selected representative viewpoints. Following negotiation with the Local Planning Authority regarding its scope, we also carried out a comprehensive reassessment of potential cumulative effects due to the changing status of various other wind energy applications in the vicinity. The planning application was resubmitted in December 2008. |
