Taylor Wimpey sought planning permission for new homes on an area of land identified within local planning policy as a Strategic Gap. Randall Thorp was appointed as masterplanning and landscape consultants for the project.

The application sought permission for 130 new homes, with associated public open space including: a green park, gateway feature and Local Area for Play, and was given a recommendation for approval by the case officer. Despite this, the application was refused permission by the planning committee.

Taylor Wimpey went on to appoint Randall Thorp to provide expert witness services at the planning appeal regarding landscape constraints, landscape and settlement character, and the impacts of the development on the Strategic Gap.

The appeal was successful and planning permission was approved.
