The location of this secure children’s mental health unit on a ridge-line within the Greenbelt required sensitive landscape design to minimise its impact. Having secured planning permission, the client commissioned Randall Thorp to overcome the most challenging planning conditions.

We carried out a survey of the surrounding woodlands and trees protected by TPO’s, which informed the production of the tree protection drawings for demolition and construction phases. Any tree felling and landscape issues were negotiated with the Local Planning Authority. Randall Thorp also produced hard and soft landscape details for both planning and construction, as well as carrying out site inspections and monitoring the landscape construction works during the implementation stage.
