Cambourne was designed from the outset to be exemplary in terms of creating a community that embraces health & wellbeing. The Sports Strategy recognised the need to provide facilities accessible to all. Randall Thorp have planned, designed and delivered over 17 hectares of new sport facilities including playing fields for football and rugby; 2 full size cricket pitches; 5 artificial tennis courts; 1 bowling green; informal kickabout areas and associated car parking, spectator areas and landscaping. The addition of Cambourne West will almost double the amount of sport facilities available to the community, including an athletics track and BMX track.
