Dick Longdin


Dick is an expert in residential masterplanning and green infrastructure planning for complex schemes. He was elected Fellow of the Landscape Institute in 2012 in recognition of his contributions to the profession as a designer, lecturer, and Pathway to Chartership examiner and was made a Landscape Institute Ambassador in 2017. In 2019 he was awarded the title 'Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design' by the Urban Design Group. He oversees the practice masterplanning and urban design work.

Lindsay Cordall


Lindsay is meticulous in his approach to detailed design and high quality workmanship, which has ensured the smooth delivery of many landscape schemes. He leads project teams on detailed design for planning and construction and oversees the practice landscape implementation work. He is a Supervisor and Examiner for the Pathway to Chartership.

Nicola Jacob


Nicola’s area of expertise is masterplanning and landscape assessment for sites ranging from single buildings to new settlements. Her holistic design approach balances planning constraints, place-making principles, and the commercial needs of clients. She guides the team on projects at feasibility and planning stages, and provides landscape expert witness services.

Pauline Randall


Founding partner Pauline Randall FLI is now happily retired from management. She continues to practice across a range of projects drawing upon her 30 + years experience as landscape assessor, expert witness, and designer of naturalistic landscapes.

Edward Thorp


Edward was a founding partner at Randall Thorp who retired from practice management in 2011. He now specialises in the reclamation and recreation of historic landscapes, including the restoration of the parkland at Lytham Hall

Joanne Folland

Senior Associate

Joanne has extensive experience in preparing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments which can withstand close scrutiny at planning appeals in addition to a broader range of design skills, all of which benefit from her careful and considered approach to landscape design. She focuses on the planning stages of projects and oversees Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment services.

Ben Hendry

Senior Associate

Ben has overseen the successful implementation of a wide range of projects from detailed planning to contract administration and takes pleasure in seeing his work taking shape on the ground. He also has experience of successfully mentoring a number of junior staff through the Pathway to Chartership.

Danielle Bentley

Senior Associate

Danielle has expertise in technical detailed design for planning, design coordination and contract administration. She manages the delivery of large-scale strategic infrastructure and landscape schemes, including implementation on site. Danielle is also a Supervisor for Pathway to Chartership candidates.

Steve Butcher

Senior Associate

Steve specialises in residential masterplanning and strategic landscape design, with a keen focus on creating characterful places for people to live, work and play. He is a mentor for other staff on the Pathway to Chartership and is currently masterplanning several new settlements for a range of clients.

Sean Rushton

Senior Associate

Sean’s background in landscape planning allows him to create imaginative design solutions that are underpinned by a sound analysis of a site’s landscape assets. His role includes masterplanning, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment and landscape design for a wide variety of site promotions and outline applications. He is also a Mentor for Pathway to Chartership candidates.

Laurie Sangwin


Laurie is a talented landscape architect who specialises in urban design, residential layout and planting design and is also a skilled designer of natural play spaces. He currently manages a number of projects through the early planning stages for established clients. He is also a Mentor for Pathway to Chartership candidates.

Cassandra Wheadon


Cassandra has a wealth of experience working in practice for over 10 years in the north west. Her particular areas of expertise are landscape masterplanning and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment services for planning applications and site promotion material. She also mentors candidates through the Pathway to Chartership process.

Ella-May Mold

Chartered Landscape Architect

Ella joined us in 2015 after gaining a distinction for her Masters in Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield. She became a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute in 2018 and looks forward to mentoring others on the Pathway to Chartership. Her role at Randall Thorp involves assisting with planning applications, detailed design and landscape implementation.

Charlotte Dew

Landscape Architect

Charlotte has experience in both the private and public sector, with previous projects including highway infrastructure, ecology parks, flood defence, play areas and private gardens, as well as residential development. Since joining Randall Thorp in 2016, her services often include site promotion and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, in addition to outline and detailed design.

Miryam Pasquale

Landscape Architect

Miryam joined Randall Thorp in July 2016 after working in London and Italy. She graduated from the University of Genoa with First Class Honours in 2014 and with a BA in Landscape Architecture from Rome in 2011. She is a member of the AIAPP (Italian Association of Landscape Architects) and Italian Member of the IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architecture).

Yuan-yin Hsieh

Graduate Landscape Architect

Yuan-Yin has experience studying and working in Landscape Architecture in both Taiwan and England. Yuan-Yin joined Randall Thorp in 2017 after gaining her Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Sheffield and currently assists with a variety of projects. She is currently a candidate on the Pathway to Chartership.

Alex Goddard

Student Landscape Architect

Alex joined as a Year Out Student in 2019 after completing his first year MA conversion in Landscape Architecture, at University of Sheffield. He developed an interest in design and horticulture during his BSc in Real Estate Management from the Oxford Brookes University.

Anita Lomas

Senior Graphic Designer

Anita returned to Randall Thorp in 2016, after 13 years designing across disciplines and within the marketing community for large multidisciplinary companies. She was in our RT team from 1988-2003 and graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005 with a First Class Honours in Graphic Design. Anita supports the practice with graphic skills, digital and print marketing materials and ensures brand consistency.

Alison Forsythe

Practice Manager

Alison has a background in illustration and graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1986 with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She joined Randall Thorp as Practice Manager in 2003 and looks after the office IT, finance and business operations.
