Randall Thorp are pleased to announce that planning approval has been granted for the regeneration of Chorlton Precinct, Manchester, transforming the existing shopping centre into a landscape-led, mixed-use neighbourhood shaped around people, nature and community.
Appointed by PJ Livesey Group, and working alongside Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and CBRE, Randall Thorp led the landscape and public realm design from concept through to RIBA Stages 2–3. Our role included the delivery of a fully coordinated Landscape Masterplan, detailed soft landscape proposals, and the preparation of the Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment (TVIA) to support the planning application.
The approved scheme places landscape at the heart of the masterplan, delivering new homes with active ground-floor uses set within a vibrant and inclusive public realm. Key landscape elements include a linear park along Barlow Moor Road, a pedestrianised greenway on Manchester Road, pocket parks and public squares, and a shared podium garden. Together, these spaces create a connected network of green infrastructure that supports wellbeing, biodiversity and long-term place value, helping to establish a new heart for Chorlton.
