We are pleased to have helped our clients Taylor Wimpey to secure outline planning consent for 286 homes on land north of Brackenway in Formby. Randall Thorp have been involved with the site since 2011 when we undertook landscape analysis and developed the concept masterplan which was used through the site promotion process. The site was successfully allocated for housing in the 2017 Local Plan for Sefton. Through the outline planning application process we acted as masterplanners and prepared the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment chapter for the Environmental Statement. The design team faced technical challenges relating to drainage as a result of historic local flooding, and ecology/landscaping due the site’s close proximity to Woodvale airfield. The approved scheme includes a series of flood mitigation measures, provides green links through the site to a new nature reserve extension to enhance green infrastructure and local biodiversity, and also seeks to maximise development potential in the most appropriate parts of the site. We look forward to assisting Taylor Wimpey with the forthcoming Reserved Matters application.
