Randall Thorp’s work on behalf of our clients at Cambourne has won design awards and been cited as best practice by CABE, Natural England, The Landscape Institute, The County Wildlife Trust and in the Planning for Biodiversity and Geological Conservation: A Good Practice Guide which accompanied PPS9.
The project required delivery of a visionary, new settlement of over 6,600 new homes within a 450 hectare site.
Randall Thorp has been involved in the project since the 1989 Public Inquiry. In 1995 we joined the masterplanning team led by Farrells, contributing to the Masterplan and the original Design Guide, going on to produce the Cambourne Landscape Structure Plan in 1997. Since 1998 we have been the lead design practice for the project working on all aspects of the scheme from concept ideas through to delivery and maintenance/management of public spaces.
We have assisted our clients by creating a series of strategic documents to guide the development and ensure the original vision and aims are met and have revised the masterplan as best practice, market demand and planning requirements have changed.
Randall Thorp have been responsible for the successful delivery and maintenance of all Green Infrastructure (GI) through reserved matters applications and a series of landscape
construction/maintenance contracts.
