The commission combined strategic landscape input for the wider stadium expansion with detailed proposals for the East Stand, a new access from Stockholm Road and car parking south of the stadium. Working alongside the architects, highways consultants and wider design team, our scope addressed pedestrian and vehicle routes, concourse spaces, planting and the treatment of the stadium’s boundaries.
Landscape proposals included hard landscape principles, material palettes and detailed planting, together with restoration proposals along the new access route and beside the reservoirs south of the stadium. These were supported by landscape input to the Design and Access Statements.
Our assessment scope covered townscape character and visual effects for both the outline and full planning applications, including contributions to the Environmental Statement. The combined commission brought landscape design and assessment together to consider the stadium expansion within its surrounding setting.
