The way we work extends beyond the projects we deliver.

Our responsibilities extend to our people, our profession, the environment and the communities we help shape. We put these into practice through the way we run our business, support learning and development, and consider the lasting effects of our work.

Opening up the profession

We help school and university students discover landscape architecture and understand the opportunities it offers. Through careers events, work experience and year-out placements, we introduce people to the profession and provide an insight into working life.

Placements give students opportunities to work alongside our team, contribute to projects and see how landscape architects influence planning, design and delivery.

Developing and sharing knowledge

We support professional development through Pathway to Chartership mentoring, knowledge sharing and experience across different types of project. Working alongside experienced colleagues helps people build their skills, professional judgement and confidence.

Our contribution also extends beyond the practice. Through university teaching, we share practical experience and help connect education with professional work.

Responding to climate change

Climate change and biodiversity loss are important considerations in our work. We seek to design landscapes that respond to changing conditions, support wildlife and remain useful and attractive over time.

This means considering planting suited to its location, opportunities for shade and sustainable drainage, habitat connections, and the resources needed to establish and maintain a landscape. We work with clients and other specialists to integrate landscape, biodiversity and green infrastructure into practical proposals that support long-term environmental resilience.

Social and environmental responsibilities

Our social and environmental policies guide how we operate, support colleagues and consider the impact of our activities. They set out our commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion, staff wellbeing and responsible use of resources.

We support hybrid and flexible working, helping colleagues balance work with their wider responsibilities while reducing the need for daily commuting. Our Manchester city centre location provides access to public transport and supports alternatives to travelling to work by car.

We recognise that our own activities have an environmental impact. We seek to reduce this through careful use of energy and materials, limiting waste, responsible purchasing and regular review of our working practices.

Fair treatment, respect for different perspectives and opportunities to learn and progress are central to the working environment we seek to provide.

Supporting charitable funding

We recognise that our design decisions influence how people experience and use places. We seek to create landscapes where people want to live, work and play, considering accessibility, comfort, opportunities for social interaction and connections with nature.

We also consider how places will mature and adapt over time. Practical maintenance, resilient planting and long-term management help ensure landscapes continue to serve their communities as needs change.

We support charitable fundraising through donations to sponsored events and appeals, including those undertaken by colleagues and people we work with.
