The Chase, Beaulieu
The Chase sits between housing parcels in the west of the Beaulieu development and promotes a strong modern feel to complement the surrounding houses. The scheme provides an important multi-functional space, acting as a destination place for residents and a sustainable movement corridor between the housing parcels and the hub of local facilities at Beaulieu Square.

Landscape Architecture
The Chase is a linear park connecting housing parcels in the west of the Beaulieu development with the local facilities at Beaulieu Square. Its contemporary character complements the surrounding homes, creating both a destination for residents and an attractive route for walking and cycling.
Our vision was to create a sequence of distinctive ‘garden rooms’, offering spaces for play, socialising and quiet relaxation. Taking inspiration from traditional English gardens, the design combines formal layouts with softer planting, providing changes in character, colour and texture along the route. A dedicated play area encourages families to visit and spend time in the park, while a continuous pedestrian and cycle path connects the spaces, creating a sense of journey and discovery.
At the western end, the garden rooms give way to a broader landscape inspired by traditional estate parkland. Open lawns and informal groups of trees create a softer setting for recreation and relaxation, connecting The Chase with the western gateway park. A sculptural feature provides a focal point at the end of the route and a distinctive landmark within the landscape.
A key challenge was the existing high-pressure gas main running through the site. The pipeline and its associated easement required careful consideration of planting locations, street furniture and construction details. The design responds to these constraints while creating a varied and welcoming landscape for residents to enjoy.
Randall Thorp provided detailed landscape proposals to support the reserved matters planning application. Following approval, we were appointed as contract administrator for the hard and soft landscape works, overseeing delivery from tender through to completion and the subsequent maintenance period.
